We had a meet at Mt. Hood (Gresham) this weekend, and it was hot.

Here are my times:
100 fly: 1:07.91 (6th place)
50 free: 27.82 (7th place)
200 free: 2:13.63 (7th place)
100 back: 1:12.05 (12th place)
400 IM: 5:27.68 (9th place)
200 fly: 2:30.62 (4th place)
100 free: 1:00.43 (6th place)
400 free: 4:42.67 Note to self: next time, work your 3rd 100!
(Some of you might not care about my times. For your information, these are for my information, therefore I don’t care that you don’t care.)
It was too hot to wear a shirt, so we decided to see if towels over the head really do work…

I made this planet in Photoshop using a really cool tutorial. You can download a desktop-sized version here:

On the last day of the meet, I swam the 200 IM, 100 free, 200 fly and 200 free relay.
200 IM: I took 3rd in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:36.37.
200 free relay: Our relay included me, Kyle, Adam and James. My split was 27.7.
100 free: I came in 1st in this race, and I got 1:01.36. I improved 9 hundredths of a second from last time.
200 fly: I won the 200 fly, even though I was five seconds off my best time. I got 2:35. Kate said it was still a good race because my splits were 36, 39, 39, 39.
Our team took 2nd (behind Corvallis) and I won the high point award for 13-14 boys!
Here are some pictures from the meet…

The second day of the meet was hot and sunny. I think everyone got sunburnt… It’s going to hurt to get in the pool tomorrow.
My events today were 400 IM, 50 free, 100 back and a 400 free relay.
400 IM: I took 1st in this race with a time of 5:29.58. I was seeded with 5:58, but I don’t know where that came from…
400 free relay: Kyle, Andrew, Adam and I were in this relay (in order). Our splits were 1:02, 1:06, 1:06, 1:01.
50 free: I got second in the 50 free, and Kyle got 1st. Our times were 27.87 and 27.75, respectively. We were in lanes 1 and 8; I love it when the slowest lanes get 1st and 2nd.
100 back: I got 1:15.07 in this event, and I came in 6th. Because it’s an outdoor pool, I ran into the laneline three times, and Kate said my looking around cost me about three seconds. At least I achieved my goal: to stay in my own lane!

This meet is taking place at the Amazon pool in Eugene. The pool didn’t feel very fast, at least today (it was cold and windy), but maybe it will be better tomorrow. I swam three events today, plus a relay.
200 free: I won this event, and I got 2:15. I was three seconds off my best time though.
100 fly: I also got 1st in this event. My time was 1:08.
200 medley relay: The relay included Adam, Andrew, Kyle and me, with me swimming the fly leg. My split was 31 seconds, but I can’t remember what our overall time was.
800 free: I won this event, even though I’m not a distance swimmer… *_* I got 10:00.00(!). Kate’s first reaction was “I thought I told you to go under ten minutes!”

I’ve been trying to install SuSE Linux on the iMac G3, but I’ve run into a few problems…
I successfully installed the system, but when I boot up or change the monitor settings, the screen starts flashing rapidly and scrolls to the right. Then after a period of time (up to several hours), it goes normal, except that the desktop is about two inches off to the left.
Hopefully this is just because of an outdated video card driver, and can be fixed when I download and install the 79(!) software updates that are available.

I redesigned the About page on The Byte Factory’s website. The cards are now stacked, instead of laying on a conveyer belt, and you can drag them around the page.
Using script.aculo.us’s Javascript library, all I had to do was add one line of Javascript to make a card drag-and-droppable. And best of all, it works in all browsers.

We had a meet in Albany yesterday, in which I swam the 50 free, 200 fly, 400 free, and the fly leg of the 400 medley relay.
Relay: I’m not sure what our time was, but my fly split was 1:07.10. I think we came in 2nd.
50 free: I came in 2nd in this event (Kyle got first), with a time of 28:12. I was going for a Zone time, which is 27.39. I’ll get it someday…
200 fly: I got 2:35.10 in the 200 fly, and I came in 1st. I also tied Amber down to the hundredth of a second. I didn’t have any competition though, which could be why I was five seconds off my best time.
400 free: In the 400 free, I got 4:48 and 1st place. Al liked my splits, because they were 1:10, 1:14, 1:13, 1:10.

I was uploading some pictures from France to my Flickr account today, but not paying attention to the 20MB per month upload limit. So, I was just uploading the pictures in their original size, which was about 2000×1500. Bad idea. After uploading 10 pictures, my bandwidth usage was up to 55%.
I immediately stopped the uploading and sized down the rest of the images, but you just can’t upload 90 pictures with only 11MB of bandwidth left.
I guess I’ll have to wait till July to upload any more images.

I did the Corvallis Triathlon yesterday (1k swim, 12k bike, 4k run). I won my age group, but I think there were only three people in it. I also improved over a minute from last year, with a time of 58:42, but the running course was a little bit different.
